Cylinder Block Reboring
Engines are subject to wear and stress from day-to-day driving, overheating and overloading.
Contaminates that enter the engine through the air intake or through the engine oil system cause wearing of the cylinders and on the piston surfaces. As cylinder wear increases, engine efficiency decreases to the point that the cylinders must be bored and the pistons replaced to return the engine to peak operating efficiency. These pistons would usually be an oversize from the standard piston.
Reboring an engine is necessary when the cylinder wall is:
- Damaged more than honing can resolve. (Deep scratches / marks)
- Un-round, or oval (this can be caused by overheating)
- Flat spots in the cylinder wall
- Out of specification in Diameter
Important: Before an engine bore is possible, we will check to ensure a set of oversize pistons are available for the engine and if not we may have to complete a relining process as well.
This service would be available for almost every engine from Car, Light Commercial, Agricultural, Plant + Marine applications.
